The story

How it went, moment by moment

Getting ready

Francesco got ready with his friends: cufflinks, tie, waistcoat and polished shoes to lace. Michela in her room, with the dress hanging in front of the window overlooking the lake, the sandals, the bouquet of colourful flowers, make-up and hair with clips in it.

The civil ceremony

The ceremony took place on the veranda at Due Roccoli, with the arch of sunflowers, little lanterns and petals along the aisle, and the order of service bearing the couple’s names. The bride’s entrance, readings by friends amid laughter, the vows, the exchange of rings, the kiss and the signing, then the walk out under the pergola to applause.

Drinks and the lakeside terrace

The guests found the buffet, bubbly and a music-themed seating plan, with each table matched to a record sleeve. The couple paused on the terrace overlooking Lake Iseo, then entered the dining hall to guests twirling their napkins.

Portraits in the woods

In the afternoon we took Francesco and Michela along the little lane through the woods and into the garden by the stone walls, for portraits in the soft light of late September.

Sunset cake and party

The sugared-almond table, then the sunset over the lake and the cutting of the tiered cake on the terrace, with a toast from the couple. Games, readings by friends and, in the evening, the first dance and the party on the dance floor, with the bride in trainers.
