How it went, moment by moment

The rose pergola

Sara adjusts her veil with a bridesmaid’s help, then with Amos heads under the pergola of red roses and along the paths of the park. The very long veil slides over the paving, between kisses stolen behind the flowering branches.

On the lawn, with the bridesmaids

Lying on the grass among the olive trees, Sara and Amos laugh, just inches apart. Then the bridesmaids in lilac and the little flower girl arrive: all of them lying on the lawn around the couple, with kisses on the cheek and laughter.

The veil in the wind

The veil raised high like a sail over the couple, with the olive trees and the mountains behind. Close-ups beneath the tulle, then Sara lying on the lawn with the veil spread around her, and Amos beside her.

La Catilina and its olive trees

Dancing in a ring with the bridesmaids in front of the villa, the steps between the hedges, the white house with geraniums at the windows. Along the avenue the train fans out at the foot of the great olive trees, with the lake beyond, and among the branches the last portraits of the afternoon.

The lawn above the lake

On the lawn overlooking the lake Amos lifts Sara in his arms, the rings in the foreground, and the bridesmaids carry her, laughing. Then everyone together, couple, friends and bridesmaids, heads down among the olive trees.

The jetty at sunset

In the evening we go down to the lake: the wooden jetty among the moored boats, pink light on the water, a dip with the village on the far shore. On the lakefront a few light-hearted moments and, in the last of the light, an embrace on the rocks.
