The story

How it went, moment by moment

Getting ready

The white bouquet, the shoes, the dress hanging in the window and Giovanni’s full dress uniform with medals, gloves and sabre. Giulia in make-up and hair, then the lace dress fastened button by button; Giovanni adjusting the decorations on his jacket before stepping out onto the red carpet.

The church ceremony

Giulia walked into the church along the red carpet, past white flowers on the pews. The exchange of rings at the altar, the signing and the final kiss.

Leaving under the sabres

Outside the church a uniformed guard of honour was waiting: the newlyweds walked out under the arch of sabres, amid rice, petals and applause.

Portraits on the lakeshore

A walk along a path between stone walls and old houses, with Lake Iseo and the mountains in the background, then the meadows and trees at the water’s edge.

At the Aquarium

The newlyweds arrived across the lake by motorboat, cut the ribbon and joined their guests for the drinks reception in the garden. The reception in the hall with its windows onto the lake, the first dance and, at sunset, a few last portraits on the shore.

The cake and the party

Cutting the cake at night on the terrace overlooking the lake, amid sparkler fountains, then the bouquet toss and dancing until late.
