How it went, moment by moment

The ceremony by the lake

The ceremony took place in the garden of Aquarium, under an arch of white and pink flowers with Lake Iseo behind. Giuseppe waited under the arch and Ilenia arrived along the walkway between the guests; the rings were brought by a little dog in a pink harness, welcomed with laughter.

Vows, rings and a kiss

The vows read at the microphone, the exchange of rings, the bottle of wine sealed together in a wooden box and the witnesses’ signatures. Then the kiss, coloured ribbons thrown over the arch and the walk back along the walkway to applause.

By motorboat on the lake

There was also time for a motorboat ride on Lake Iseo, sitting at the bow with the mountains all around, and for a stroll on the harbour jetties among moored boats and bougainvillea in bloom.

Drinks and lunch at Aquarium

Drinks in the garden by the lake, with the fans reading “Due destini, un’unica rotta” (two destinies, one route), the seating plan with a globe and vintage suitcases. Friends crossed the lawn giving piggyback rides, then the couple entered the glass-walled hall as the guests waved their napkins.

Sunset portraits

In the late afternoon we went out with the couple among meadows, reeds and pools of water near the lake, then among stone walls, old doorways and an ancient little church, with the last of the sunlight between their faces.

Cake, bouquet and party

At dusk, an exit among sparklers and the cake on the terrace overlooking the lake, among white flowers and soap bubbles. Ilenia handed her bouquet to a friend after a few words at the microphone, then the first dance under the lit marquee and a party into the night.
