The story

How it went, moment by moment

Getting ready

Rocco got ready in a room full of light, with a hand for his waistcoat, tie and cufflinks, then the first portraits in the park among the trees and hydrangeas. Margherita at home, with make-up and hair with blue flowers woven in, the little one in her arms, the little dog in its red harness and the lace dress fastened with her friends’ help.

The ceremony in Bornato

The ceremony was held in the parish church of San Bartolomeo in Bornato, decorated in white and blue. Rocco’s entrance and then Margherita’s along the white carpet, the rings brought by a little boy, the exchange of vows, the kiss, the signing and the walk out in front of the church to applause.

Corte Priore

At Corte Priore the guests were greeted by a sign reading “Oggi inizia la favola di Margherita e Rocco” (Today Margherita and Rocco’s fairy tale begins) and by drinks under the veranda. The couple raised a toast in the park, then lunch in the hall with beams and stone walls, their entrance amid waving napkins, speeches at the microphone and the first dances.

Sunset portraits

Towards evening we moved to a small Romanesque stone church overlooking pools of water and reed beds, with the mountains in the background. Low walls, ancient trees and the warm sunset light, then back to the park at Corte Priore, by the gazebo and the swing.

Cake, sparklers and party

Back at the venue, a run across the lawn with friends and the guests forming a heart, filmed by the drone. The cake was cut under the iron pergola, amid light fountains and with the little one in their arms; then the bouquet toss, speeches by friends, the first dance among sparklers and the party under the fairy lights into the night.
