How it went, moment by moment

Getting ready

The morning begins with the details: the bouquet of white roses, the shoes, the wedding rings, the dress hanging in the window. Then Gerta’s make-up and Luca getting dressed, with family hugs before setting off.

The ceremony under the pergola

The ceremony was held outdoors, beneath the tunnel of trees in the garden of Villa Valenca, with white chairs lined up along the aisle. Luca waited for Gerta, visibly moved, as she came down the aisle. Then the words read at the microphone, the signing, the exchange of rings and the first kiss, and the exit to the guests’ applause.

Coloured smoke in the courtyard

In front of the courtyard gate, on the black and white paving and among the hedges of the Italian garden, we lit the rainbow smoke bombs: it is one of the most recognisable photos of this wedding.

Drinks reception and first dance

The drinks reception in the garden, with finger food and live music, and the sugared-almond table. The first dance took place in the room with the grand piano and the large windows onto the park.

The poolside party

In the afternoon the party moved to the pool: guests with their feet in the water, toasts, dancing in the garden and the cake cutting. At sunset we took Gerta and Luca to the fountain and along the avenue for the last portraits, while the drone filmed the villa and the park from above.
