How it went, moment by moment

Getting ready at home

Michael got ready at home, with the white jacket with a black collar, the cufflinks, a bow tie tied with care and a bottle with the couple’s photo on the label for a toast before leaving. Isabella in her stone-walled bedroom, with the dress hanging in the window, the veil embroidered with their initials and the date, make-up and the dress carefully fastened.

The ceremony at Santa Maria Assunta

Isabella arrived in a white vintage car, wearing heart-shaped sunglasses and carrying a bouquet of roses and gypsophila, and walked up the aisle among the page boys. The exchange of rings at the altar, the signing, the kiss and the walk out in front of the church, with a box of balloons to open together.

Between palazzo and village

After Mass, portraits in a palazzo with a grand staircase and frescoed ceilings, in the arcaded courtyard with the sun low and along cobbled lanes between stone walls, the long veil lifted by the wind. Then back into the car, with Just Married written on the rear window.

Casa Mascagni

At Casa Mascagni guests found the seating plan and the welcome mirror among the flowerbeds, drinks in the garden and live music. The couple raised a toast on the gazebo terrace overlooking the hills, and at sunset we went down into the park among cypresses, flowerbeds and stone steps.

Dinner, cake and party

The entrance into the hall under the marquee amid waving napkins, games and dancing in the courtyard. In the evening the cake with their initials amid fountains of sparks, the fireworks, the bouquet toss and the party inside, with coloured lights and dancing until late.
